EICR Electrical Installation Condition report

An Electrical Inspection Conditioning Report or ECIR, should be carried out in your home every ten years. This ensures your home is safe and all the electrics are in good condition.

If you have a rented property the ECIR should be done every five years. (Electrical Safety Council 2012). An Electrical Inspection Conditioning Report (ECIR) should also be carried out when a property is being prepared for letting or before buying a previously owned property or selling a property.

When it comes to commercial properties, the recommended inspection period is dependent on the type of premises. We’ve over 25 years’ experience and will be able to advise you as to how often this should be done.

All inspections carried out by Select 1 engineers are in line with current regulations and a full report on the inspection will be provided to all customers. If any issues or dangers are identified then our electricians will explain them in full and talk you through the solution. Once you have agreed to carry out the works they will work quickly and efficiently ensuring minimum disruption to you.

What an Electrical Inspection Conditioning Report will ensure:

  • Electrical circuits and equipment are not overloaded
  • There are no electric shock risks or fire hazards
  • There is no faulty electrical work
  • Earthing and/or bonding is present

As with most types of inspections and reports, Electrical Inspection Conditioning Reports are only as good as the amount of work that has gone into them. At Select 1 we aim to inspect 100% of a property’s electrical installations. When you enquire about Electrical Inspection Conditioning Report (ECIR) always check that it’s for 100% of the property’s electrical installation.
